Music instruction can be a very rewarding extra curricular activity.
Students moving on to middle schools, high schools and college often look at specialized schools. Schools such as:
Mark Twain | LaGuardia HS | Murrow HS | Talented Unlimited HS | Interlochen Arts Camp / Academy
as well as universities and conservatories that often give scholarships for an advanced talent.
New York Youth Musicians is very dedicated to helping our students in the audition process.
Training students in essential skills (scales, rudiments, sight reading), choosing challenging repertoire to perform for the audition and making sure the student is prepared. We hold mock auditions with a distinguished panel of musicians, of which at the end give feedback and advice. Older students preparing for High School and College auditions have the unique opportunity to go into professional studios for mock auditions using the finest instruments. Deserving students also have the chance to work with some of New York’s finest musicians in “motivational lessons” for extra direction and that added push.
Our students have been accepted to:
Manhattan School of Music Summer Music Camp | LaGuardia HS | Mark Twain | Talented Unlimied | Murrow HS
Interlochen Arts Camp | Boston Conservatory | Brooklyn Conservatory | MontClair University | Mannes College of Music
Below is a list of a few musicians that have coached these motivational lessons and others that have been on our panels:
